Trump Attacks Turn to Rubio

Republican Presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio has achieved a new status this week: Donald Trump’s target of attacks.

On CNN on Thursday, Trump spent significant time on disparaging the junior senator from Florida.

“Marco Rubio, he’s like a kid. He shouldn’t be running in this race as far as I’m concerned,” the 69-year-old Trump said.

Trump doesn’t give any credit to Rubio’s public service.

“Marco Rubio sits behind a desk; sometimes and he reads stuff, he’s in committees so you know that’s all he does. I create jobs all day long,” Trump told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day.”

As usual, Trump turned to his twitter account to attack:

Rubio, for his part, turned the tables on the billionaire businessman, calling him “insecure” and “touchy.”

“He takes shots at everybody that gets anywhere close to him, in terms of a poll, or anytime he hits a rough spot, that’s what he does,” Rubio told WLAP in Kentucky.

The Florida senator argued that the rough patch Trump is going through is causing insults to fly, implying that he will not be the last one the real estate mogul will go after before all is said and done.

“He had a really bad debate performance last week, he’s not well informed on the issues, he really never talks about issues and can’t have more than a 10 second sound bite on any key issue,” Rubio said. “So I think he’s really been exposed a little bit over the last seven days and he’s a very touchy and insecure guy and so that’s how he reacts. And people can see through it.”

Trump spent a large portion of the debate staying quiet while other candidates debated policy details, but he still had the most time overall. Many public polls said Trump won the debate, though it has not translated to a growth in numbers.
