Morton Athletics released the second in a new series of posters highlighting the high school’s sports teams.

Seniors of the Morton Varsity Boys Soccer team are pictured on the newly-installed artificial turf of Morton’s Hoffman Stadium.

The 11″ x 17″ full-color posters feature 14 Mustang seniors with the 2014 home and away schedule. After an extensive $2 million renovation of the facility by District 201, the soccer teams of Morton now share the stadium with the football team.

The posters were made possible by a donation from Diamond Graphics Inc. Paul DiMenna, owner of Diamond Graphics, graduated from Morton West and started his own printing company after taking printing classes in high school.

“I’m glad to be able to give back to Morton,” DiMenna said about his donation. Diamond Graphics printed the posters, which will be distributed throughout District 201.

Two versions of the poster were designed, in English and in Spanish.

Board of Education President Jeffry Pesek, a Morton West alum, said, “We are proud of the Morton soccer program and happy to have the chance to highlight their success. They are a dedicated group of young men who demonstrate great sportsmanship every time they play.”

The varsity team’s accomplishments this season includes winning the 2014 PepsiCo Showdown, with senior goalie Ian Chacon being named the tournament’s MVP and senior midfielder Edgar Garcia making the All-Tournament Team. The PepsiCo Showdown is the country’s largest high school soccer tournament.

“We can’t wait to see them in the playoffs,” Pesek said.

The Athletics Department released a 2014 Varsity Football team poster to kick off the new project. The poster series will continue with a 2014-2015 Varsity Girls Basketball team poster and another for the Varsity Boys Basketball team later this year.
