J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 Board Member Vacancy

J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 (the “District”) is accepting applications to fill the vacancy resulting from the resignation of Board Member, Joseph Keating.

The individual selected will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment until the candidate elected to fulfill the remainder of this vacancy is elected and seated after the next consolidated school board election which is to be held on April 7, 2015.

J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 educates all students to meet or exceed the standards of learning by providing educational experiences that challenge, engage, and empower them to be productive members of the global community.  The District’s mission is simply: Every student succeeds.

Applicants for the Board vacancy must be:

  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment.
  • Be a registered voter.
  • Not be a child sex offender.
  • Not hold another incompatible public office.
  • Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District.
  • Not be a school trustee.
  • Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment.

Applicants should show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban.  The Board’s policies are available at http://www.morton201.org/PDF/201_Board_Policy_Manual.pdf.
