Tropical band “Pirates of 40” headlines Boone County Concerts in the Park  at Candlewick Lake July 17

Candlewick Lake is proud to participate in this year’s Boone County Arts Council Concerts in the Park program with a performance by a leading baby boomer rock band on July 17.

The Concerts in the Park program features 7 musical performances that began in June and continue through July 17 at the Candlewick Lake Recreation Center’s outdoor park area.

Candlewick Lake is a private Homeowners-Association managed community that features a one of the region’s most popular boating and panoramic fishing lakes which features bass, bluegill, walleye and northern pike among more than a dozen fish species.

The performance by the popular tropical rock music group “Pirates over 40” on July 17 at Candlewick Lake is open to the general public and the Lake Association’s gates will be open for free admission before and during the performance which begins at 6:30 pm and is scheduled to end at 8:30 pm.

“In addition to enjoying one of the several concerts organized by the Boone County Arts Council, guests will be able to get a firsthand look at Candlewick Lake and its many family-oriented benefits from the beautiful fishing and boating lake to the many parks, golf course and recreation center which offers a swimming pool and a sand beach,” said Candlewick Recreation Committee member Bonnie Marron.

Concerts in the Park at Candlewick Lake on July 17 is co-sponsored by Poplar Grove State Bank.

Visitors can enter Candlewick Lake at the main gate located on Route 76 south of Route 173. There is plenty of parking.

Public rest rooms for visitors are available at the recreation center, the 9-hole Savannah Oaks Golf Course, and at Friendship Park.

The Community Building at 111 West First Street is the rain site for all concerts during the series except for the July 17 concert at Candlewick Lake. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the Candlewick Lake Recreation Center gymnasium.
