Morton Varsity Football Debuts 2014 Schedule Poster

(Cicero, IL) – Morton Varsity Football Head Coach Bob Organ and Athletic Director Nicole Ebsen announced the release of a 2014 football season promotional poster. The 11″ x 17″ full-color poster features 26 Mustang seniors with the 2014 home and away schedule.

“The players are excited to be part of a new effort to promote Morton Football,” Organ said.

The Morton Athletic Booster Club is the lead sponsor in a new poster series highlighting Morton sports. “I’m glad the Boosters are partnering with us on this project. We would like our community to see Morton’s successful student-athletes in a way they haven’t before,” Ebsen said.

Last spring students in Morton West teacher Mike Battistoni’s Graphic Arts Print Production class created a number of designs that ultimately led to the final product. Now-Morton graduates Alejandro Medina and Cynthia Fisher (Morton West, Class of 2014) collaborated on the initial draft. Current students printed all copies of the final design at Morton West.

“It’s wonderful to see the school pride and enthusiasm that was displayed by both players and graphic arts students while working on this project,” Battistoni said. Morton West senior Alex Gorski has taken two years of graphic arts courses and is working this year on an independent study in graphic arts. He described his experience coordinating the poster as “awesome.”

“It was something new that I would never have had the chance to do otherwise,” Gorski said.

Board of Education President Jeffry Pesek, an alum of Morton West and a former Mustang football player, offered praise to the students, staff and administration for coming together to make the new poster project happen. “This is a great example of how we’ve worked to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students to really explore and develop their talents in and out of the classroom,” Pesek said.

The Athletics Department will also release a 2014 Varsity Boys Soccer team poster. The poster series will continue with a 2014-2015 Varsity Girls Basketball team poster and another for the Varsity Boys Basketball team later this year.
