Message from District 201 Superintendent Dr. Kuzniewski

To the Morton Community,

The 2014-2015 school year is under way! Just as it has for the past century, J S Morton District 201 welcomed our 8000 plus students back to school last week.

This school year we welcomed over forty new staff members. They each are coming to Morton starting their new positions with a sense of purpose, passion and dedication to our students and community, and we are grateful to have them on our team.   In addition to welcoming new staff, there is much to be excited about in the new school year with regard to teaching and learning. As we set goals for the coming school year, our administrators and teachers are focused on the implementation of the Common Core State Standards.  Along with these standards come new and more rigorous testing (PARCC) requirements.   While we are refining our instructional strategies to meet these increased demands, we are also working feverishly to upgrade our infrastructure to also meet the technology demands created by these new assessments.

Our District takes great pride in providing transparency as we do business and I encourage each of you to keep informed by liking us on Facebook, following us on twitter, visiting our website and subscribing to our E- mail blasts.  Of course, the most important form of communication is with the teachers so please use Skyward to check frequently on the academic progress of your student.

In closing, just a note that our student activities are already in full swing and I encourage all members of the Morton 201 community to visit our school events, showing off their Mustang pride. We are YOUR high schools and we thank you for your support. Please remember…

It is always a great day to be a Mustang!
