(Cicero, IL) – J. Sterling Morton High School District No. 201 received the Association of School Business Officials International’s (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.
The district was recognized for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2013. A Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is a set of financial statements that provide a thorough and detailed presentation of a school district’s financial condition and goes beyond the minimum information necessary for fair presentation in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
On September 10, 2014 the J Sterling Morton High School, Board of Education recognized CFO, Ali Mehanti and his team for achieving another successful year of financial reporting. The COE award shows the district has been working diligently and this accomplishment is second to none,” said board president Jeffry Pesek, “It is very important to note to our stakeholders that we are being recognized for being fiscally responsible.”

Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting.
