New Gaming Café Opens in Lyons

Shamrock Café, a new video gaming establishment, recently celebrated its grand opening in the Village of Lyons.

Located at 7840 Ogden Avenue, the Shamrock Café offers over 80 different games on 5 Vegas style gaming machines in a warm, comfortable, and fun environment.

Shamrock Café owner, Rachel Spiotto said she wanted to create a welcoming environment for patrons to enjoy themselves.

“We put over $30,000 in renovating the building and upgrading the café to create a comfortable atmosphere,” said Spiotto.

Spiotto said the café offers several slot and poker games to choose from and serves an assortment of beverages, including coffee, tea, soda, wine and beer.

Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty, who attended the grand opening, said he was happy to welcome Spiotto and the Shamrock Café to Lyons.

“I am very happy to have a new business opening in town and the Shamrock Cafe has been an absolute pleasure to deal with,” said Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty.

“They have gone above and beyond to make this a great place for people to come to relax and enjoy themselves, It is good to see this establishment is off to such a wonderful start.”

According to the State Gaming Board, in 2015 from January to May over 19 million dollars has been won from local slot machines in Lyons with the town taking a municipal cut of almost $83,000.

Getty said the portions of the gaming profits that are paid to Lyons will fund infrastructure projects throughout the village in particular the renovation of our streets and alleys.

The Shamrock Café is the second gaming café to open in Lyons since the Illinois legislature and Governor Pat Quinn expanded gaming in 2012.

Their hours of operation are Monday-Saturday from 8am-2am and Sundays from 10am-12am.
