Berwyn, Ill.–The Morton West Concert Band program saluted its graduating students with a poster celebrating “Pride in Performance.” Nine musicians from the Class of 2015 are featured on 11ʺ x 17ʺ posters sponsored by the Morton Music Parents Association.
Under its director, Dr. Larry Pearce, the Morton West Band program has received Superior/Excellent ratings for the past 13 consecutive years at contests in Illinois, Missouri New York and Ohio. “The musicians in the program truly represent ‘What is Best at West,’ ” Dr. Pearce said.
Morton initiated a poster program at the beginning of the school year to highlight the activities and sports available at the high school. Students participate in 90 activities and 26 varsity sports offered across the district.
Zeltzin Alicia Vazquez (Morton West, Class of 2015) shot the photo of the musicians used on the poster and produced the final design. “I was glad to work on the band poster, because they’re a small group of individuals who don’t get all the credit and recognition they deserve,” Vazquez said. “When I was approached with the opportunity to create a promo for them I was more than happy to, because it’s a creative and fun way to get them out there.”
The poster series concludes with the Varsity Softball, Baseball and Girls Soccer teams.
